Description
I thought that the default themes installed with blender were too dull and lacked differentiation/contrast of UI elements, a couple of them were the exact opposite and used overly bright colours and contrast (toxic theme).
I've aimed at making lavender a medium contrast theme that is easier on the eyes, but retains adequate contrast between UI elements and menu items.
I had modified the default "Ubuntu Ambiance" theme in this direction several months ago, but it still lacked proper contrast and design, and I didn't want to spend too much time obsessing over the UI. With Blender 2.66 being released, I decided to spend more time improving lavender, and now I think it's ready to share with other users.
If you find any problems with the theme, or would like to suggest improvements, please leave a comment below.
[Installation - (Download link is in the sidebar to the right)]
copy the script folder to your blender preferences directory.
Ex: on windows this would be "[OS drive]:/Users/[user name]/AppData/Roaming/Blender Foundation/Blender/[version]/"
mine for example is "C:/Users/snowstorm/AppData/Roaming/Blender Foundation/Blender2.65/".
alternatively, navigate down the folder structure to the "lavender.xml" file, and copy to "[OS drive]:/Users/[user name]/AppData/Roaming/Blender Foundation/Blender/[version]/scripts/presets/interface_theme/"
once copied, launch Blender and change the theme by clicking "File > User Preferences > Themes > select "Lavender" from the presets > Save User Settings"
If you cannot see your "AppData" folder, you will need to enable display of hidden files and folders. to do this in windows 7, open windows explorer, click "organize" > "folder and search options" > switch to the "view" tab > check "show hidden folders, files, and drives" > click "ok"
Lavender theme exported from Blender 2.66 RC, and will not work with earlier versions
I've also noticed problems if you still have an old "startup.blend" from an earlier version
Enjoy! >^^<
